Whether it’s the exponential growth of artificial intelligence assisting our daily lives and decision-making or the spread of IoT (internet of things), the increasing development of different forms of technology is moving faster with each passing year. More and more urban areas are trying to take advantage of data and digital technology in order to improve the lives of residents. ProptechOS, a real estate technology company that develops smart homes, recently surveyed 100 European and American cities (including the most populous capitals) to find out which are the “smartest” cities on each continent. Let’s see the list- is Budapest a smart city?
ProptechOS considered 11 factors that fall into the categories of tech infrastructure and connectivity, a tech-driven job market, and sustainability when conducting the study and creating the final list:
Dr Erik Wallin, founder and chief ecosystem officer at ProptechOS said: “The cities that will thrive in the future will be the ones best adapted to our new and greener ways of living. By looking at a range of factors, including tech infrastructure, sustainability, and the tech-driven job market, we were able to get a better picture of the US and European cities will be leading the way into a smarter future.”
On the list, the highest-ranking city in the US is Austin, Texas followed by Los Angeles (CA) and Seattle (WA). In Europe, London snatched first place, followed by Amsterdam and Berlin. Budapest was also listed high in Europe: being by far the smartest city in Eastern Europe.
