John von Neumann University introduces the prototype of electric urban motorbike

Plans for a new electric motorcycle were presented on Monday at John von Neumann University (NJU) in Kecskemét. During the development of Supermoto, which was created as a result of the cooperation between Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME) and NJE, the developers aimed to design a motorcycle suitable for street and road traffic.
The participants of the project were vehicle design students and instructors of the MOME Design Institute, as well as colleagues and students of the Innovative Vehicles Department of the NJE GAMF Faculty of Technology and Informatics, János Neumann University said on Monday.
As highlighted in the announcement, the creation of a fully electric-powered vehicle is the first, decisive step in the cooperation and professional relationship between the two higher education institutions. The most important objective of the project is the coordination of technical and design work, providing students with practical experience in close cooperation between the two fields of expertise. In his speech at the event, Norbert Csizmadia, chairman of the JNU Foundation’s board of trustees, emphasized that the initiative is exemplary: “it clearly shows that, following the decision made jointly by the two universities, with the cooperation and close cooperation of the institutions, it is possible to truly create a world record in just one year,” he quotes. the announcement.
In his speech, Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy, the chairman of the MOME Foundation’s board of trustees, said, “We still have very busy weeks and months ahead of us before this engine and our joint projects ahead of us can be put to use on the market”.
The development of the Supermoto is a reference to how engineers and designers can jointly create something that points towards green mobility and can turn from a concept into a marketable product, the announcement states.
The maximum speed of the vehicle is 100 km/h, its average range (at a speed of 40-70 km/h) is 100 km. The motor has a set power of 5 kW, a peak power of 11 kW, and a maximum torque of 70 Nm. The load capacity of the Supermoto is 130 kg, and the charging time is 5-6 hours.
