Health Insurance for international students

All international students enrolling at Budapest International College or at our partner university need to have valid health insurance throughout their studies in Hungary.

Budapest International College offers an excellent everyday health care package through Generali insurance company for approx. 180 EUR/year. Students have the option to sign up for the Generali Insurance during the admission procedure and then sign the final Health Insurance Contract once arriving in Hungary.

Alternative health insurance solutions

As an EU citizen you can ask your local authority to provide you with the European Health Insurance card. It is a free card that gives you access to medically necessary, state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in any of the 27 EU countries.

EEA citizens residing in Hungary for longer than a year and do not have a valid European Health Insurance Card can apply for state health insurance.

If you decide to get yourself an insurance at another private health insurance company, make sure that you don’t choose the cheapest insurance package since the Immigration Office might reject to accept it when you apply for visa or try to extend your residence permit.
