Óbuda University, named after Óbuda, a part of Budapest, is the number one practice-oriented technical University in Budapest, Hungary. It was founded in 2000 as Budapest Tech with the merging of three polytechnical institutes. Their engineering and applied science departments and programs are among the nation’s oldest with 130 years of rich tradition. Nowadays, Óbuda University is an internationally recognized and competitive institution in the fields of science, education, research and innovation. Academics are experts in their fields with broad national and international experience in both teaching and research. We offer our students a high quality practice and science based education to become strong research and technical management engineers.
With more than 12,000 students it is one of the largest technical universities in the country. Having complied with the requirements, the institution was promoted to university status on 1 January 2010 under the name of Óbuda University.
Óbuda University has 6 campuses, 7 faculties, 3 doctoral schools and over 500 international full-time students. The Uni is particularly famous for its excellent engineering, and IT programs, especially in the fields of robotics, where they are the founder and current leader of the Central European Living Lab for Intelligent Robotics (CELLI), a network of 18 robotics centers and SMEs form 7 countries. They are also a member of the euRobotics aisbl, and active in numerous Topical Groups.
